Free Environmental Home and Garden Information EveningsProtecting and enhancing the environment while saving money will be the focus of two Environmental Home and Garden Information Evenings By Bass Coast Shire Council - 7th January 2002 - Back to News Protecting and enhancing the environment while saving money will be the focus of two Environmental Home and Garden Information Evenings that will be held in Bass Coast Shire during January.
Bass Coast Shire Council, in association with the Sustainable Energy Authority, South Gippsland Water and Westernport Water, will hold the sessions on Thursday 10 January in Inverloch and Tuesday 15 January at San Remo.
"The Information Evenings will look at ways to reduce energy usage, conserve water and minimise waste," said Katie Moon, Waste Management/Environment Officer with Council. "People will also find out about the benefits of planting native trees and easy steps to home composting."
"Knowledge about how to make their home more environmentally friendly is not the only thing people will be taking home with them," said Katie. "Everyone who attends either session will receive a free Philips Ecotone energy efficient light globe, energy efficient information kit and a native seedling from a local nursery."
Speakers at the Information Evenings will include Peter Perks from the Sustainable Energy Authority, Richard Perry, Director of Planning and Environment at Bass Coast Shire Council and representatives from the local Water Boards. Education Officers from the Regional Waste Management Group will also attend with their displays about home composting and waste minimisation.

Tuesday 15 January San Remo Recreation Centre 7pm-9pm
