Let the Battle Begin!

The judges have been appointed, the stage is being set and local musicians are fine tuning their instruments for the Push Start Battle of the bands at Sale Memorial Hall next Friday, 16 September.

By Wellington Shire Council - 9th September 2005 - Back to News

The event, proudly supported by Wellington Shire Council, is part of a state-wide competition run by The Push - a non-profit, state-wide youth entertainment organisation.

This year’s judges include Merla Kyffin (REG FM), local musician Danny Glover and the Band Manager of headline act Supercede, Claire Stuchbery – have a wealth of talent in the music industry and will be looking for ability to entertain, musicianship, song writing or interpretation of covers and their overall recording potential.

Wellington’s Mayor Peter Gault said: "There’s a lot of great, undiscovered musical talent in our shire and we strongly encourage people to support the local bands who have entered this year’s competition."

Winners from the local event will progress to a regional heat in Warragul in October and then possibly on to the state finals where they will compete for major prizes.

Battle of the Bands starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are $8 and available at the door. However, watch out for the discount passes available from bands and the FReeZA Committee that will get you in for only $5.
