Multicultural Awards and Event GrantsMulticultural Festivals and Events (MFE) program and Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence now open for nominations. By Portal Admin - 15th September 2020 - Back to News Multicultural communities have the opportunity to celebrate and honour people, organisations and events with nominations now open for the Multicultural Festivals and Events (MFE) program and Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence.
Mr Northe is encouraging multicultural community groups to apply for grants to support multicultural and multi-faith festivals and events online, giving communities the opportunity to celebrate their culture and be able to connect through alternate platforms.
"Multicultural communities have faced unique challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic, with changes and cancellations to many events and festivals that occur to celebrate their culture" Mr Northe said.
A modified round of Multicultural Festivals and Events (MFE) will take place for the 2020-21 program. There will be two grant streams available for the MFE 2020-21 Digital Round one grant applications:
- Digital Festivals and Events Stream:
- Small category – up to $2,000
- Medium category – between $3,000 and $9,999
- Large category – between $10,000 and $50,000
- Digital Capability for Organisations Stream – up to $3,000

Mr Northe is also encouraging local nominations in the Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence program in recognition of the incredible contributions made by persons from migrant backgrounds to the Gippsland community which has been profound over many decades.
"The Victorian Multicultural Awards for excellence recognise various attributes across 15 categories, these awards pay tribute to champions of diversity and others who have supported Victorians form culturally diverse backgrounds" said Mr Northe.
Nominations close on Sunday 11 October 2020.
