Due to fires in the nearby forest and park, all walking tracks on the Baw Baw Plateau are closed until further notice.

By Department of Sustainability - 26th March 2004 - Back to News

These include tracks accessed from Mount Erica Car park, Mount St Gwinear Car park and tracks from the Baw Baw Village into the park.

The closure includes camping at Mushroom Rocks and other campsites across the Baw Baw Plateau.

DSE Regional Fire Manager, David Tainsh said that the park closures are a precaution given the predicted weather conditions over the weekend.

"They are to ensure that visitors are not put at risk," Mr Tainsh said.

For information on alternative areas to visit in the Alpine National Park contact Parks Victoria Information Line on 13 1963 or www.parkweb.vic.gov.au.
