Temporary Closure Of Dalyston-Glen Forbes Road (Dakins Bend Widening)A section of Dalyston-Forbes Road will be temporarily closed from 29 October for approximately two weeks. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 22nd October 2007 - Back to News Council’s Infrastructure Director, Steve Piastente said the road was being closed to carry out road widening excavation works on Dakins Bend.
"Council is responding to safety concerns the community has raised about this road," said Mr Piasente.
"Dakins Bend is a sharp corner with limited visibility and the widening of the road will certainly improve motorists’ safety.
"The road will be closed between the intersections of McDowell Road and Eden Road along Dalyston-Glen Forbes Road."
Alternative traffic routes have been organised while the work is being done.
"While the road is closed, McDowell Road will be the alternative route for local traffic," said Mr Piastente
"All heavy vehicles will be diverted along Mill Road, Trew Road, McGrath Road and Eden Road.
"The school bus will make alternative arrangement during this period," confirmed Mr Piasente.
Mr Piasente said that Council would make sure that the alternative routes are clearly sign posted for motorists.
"We regret any inconvenience which may be caused during the period of construction," said Mr Piasente.
"But the end result will be a much safer road for our residents.
"We are working hard to try and keep any disruption to a minimum."
