Maryvale Preschool To Be Relocated To MoeDue to the continuing fire at the Hazelwood Mine a decision has been made to relocate the Maryvale Crescent preschool to Moe PLACE. By Latrobe City - 20th February 2014 - Back to News Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson, said that the preschool had been closed all this week as a precautionary measure.
"Maryvale Crescent is the preschool that is closest to the mine fire and has been shut this week due to concerns over air quality. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children at the preschool we have decided to relocate the program to Moe PLACE at the Ted Summerton Reserve.
"Session times will remain the same, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am to 2pm, and the children will still have the same early education teacher," Cr Gibson said.
"We understand transport may be a concern for some families so we will be providing a free bus to and from Moe PLACE with members of the preschool team travelling with the children. All parents have been informed of this change.
"We’ve made this arrangement for some continuity for the children and their families to ensure they have some certainty around their day to day routine.
"As the fire may burn for some time we are not able to anticipate how long this arrangement may continue. We will, of course, be keeping parents and staff updated on a regular basis and will respond to any change in conditions accordingly," Cr Gibson concluded.
