The exhibition includes paintings and drawings by Frederick McCubbin, George Lambert, Eugene von Guerard and ST Gill.

Latrobe Regional Gallery’s team leader, Fiona West, curated the exhibition herself and said that it focused on landscape and journeys taken across the Australian countryside.

"These images capture direct or symbolic responses to scenic views, hillsides, riverbanks, trees, stone houses and quiet spaces. Picturesque pastoral scenes and the introduction of people, horses and drovers highlight working life on the land often with a romantic quality.

"The gallery is very fortunate to house the Cbus Collection of Australian Art. The collection consists of over 300 works and includes work by many important artists from the 1840s to the beginning of the 21st century.

"It is always a thrill to be able to present works form this collection to our local community as well as visitors to the region," Ms West concluded.

Overland continues until 15 July.
