By Bass Coast - 22nd July 2011 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council was pleased to secure funding through the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program (RLCIP) to construct the missing link between existing shared paths near Rainbow Park to the entrance of Inverloch Bowling Club car park.
Felicity Sist, Infrastructure Director said Council engaged Super Paving Vic Pty Ltd to construct the 2.5m wide shared path over a distance of approximately 300m.
"They have done a good job in ensuring the project is delivered on time with minimal disruption to the community who use the pathway," said Ms Sist.
Maintaining the network of pedestrian paths through the Shire is a constant task and the renewal of kerb and channel are funded through Council’s kerb renewal program.
"The wider footpaths benefit recreational cyclists, pedestrians and visitors who want to enjoy a good walk away from traffic," Ms Sist explained.
"The paths also provide a good riding surface for wheelchair or scooters making it accessible to all."
Ms Sist said further work would be done to improve pedestrian access along The Esplanade.
"Council has successfully secured $260,000 funding from VicRoads. We will now look at completing the section of shared path along The Esplanade from Grandview Grove to Inverloch Angling Club near Cuttriss Street."
