Morwell Mobile MusterOld mobile phone handsets, chargers and accessories are now easier to recycle in the Latrobe Valley. By Russell Northe - 21st August 2009 - Back to News The Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe has registered the Morwell electorate office as a collection point for MobileMuster, to encourage locals to recycle rather than dispose of unwanted mobile phones.
"There are an estimated 16 million mobile phones and batteries sitting around in Australian homes and offices that could be recycled," Mr Northe said.
"Over 90 percent of the materials in these can be recovered, helping to turn old technology into new products such as stainless steel, plastic fence posts and jewellery."
Mr Northe encouraged residents with unwanted mobiles and accessories to think twice about throwing them in the bin. He invited them to utilise the MobileMuster collection box now located in his office (66 George St Morwell) so that the old phones can be dismantled and recycled.
