and local business achievements.

"Support Small Business Day" is a new Victorian Government initiative to increase the competitiveness of small businesses and recognise their valuable contribution to our community.

It‟s an opportunity for Victorians to reconnect with small businesses that make our community great and support those who own and operate them.

On Saturday 19 October, retailers, café‟s, restaurants and service providers across Victoria will celebrate with one-day events and special promotions.

Principal Partner, National Australia Bank (NAB) is offering $100,000 worth of shopper incentives, including more than 4,000 eftpos cards redeemable at participating businesses on the day.

Mr Northe said "The Coalitions new initiative of „Support Small Business Day‟ is to be held on Saturday 19 October".

"The day which is designed to increase the competitiveness of small businesses whilst recognising their valuable contribution to our community has been well received by the business sector with many businesses and consumers already signed on."

Mr Northe encouraged both local businesses and consumers to sign up to the "Support Small Business Day" initiative.

Given that many local small businesses in our region contribute significantly to our schools, sporting clubs and the community more broadly as well as employing local people, its important consumers in turn support their local businesses on this important day.
