Nature Based Tourism Workshop TomorrowBy Wellington Shire Council - 16th August 2005 - Back to News A nature based tourism workshop for East Gippsland stakeholders including industry, government and the community will be held in East Gippsland Shire’s Palmers Road office Lakes Entrance on Thursday afternoon (18 August) from 1.00 pm - 4.30 pm.
East Gippsland Shire's Economic Development/Tourism Coordinator Phil Rickards says that interested people are invited to attend and put forward their ideas and opinions.
"Tourism Victoria, Parks Victoria and the Department of Sustainability and Environment are jointly developing a Nature Based Tourism Strategy (2006-2010) for the State," he said.
This workshop will be action-oriented with the facilitators wanting to set two key objectives that industry can achieve and the same that government can achieve to ensure the Strategy will have outcomes that ensure growth in our region."
Mr Rickards said that nature based tourism is any tourism, including adventure, that is related to the natural environment.
"It is very important for our region as nature based attractions and destinations are our lead product strength attracting visitors to East Gippsland," he said.
