For the first time in the history of the Bass Coast Shire, a shire-wide Sports and Leisure Expo will be held, and local clubs are being called upon to take part.

Bass Coast Shire Council and its YMCA Leisure Centres will be coordinating and promoting the Expo, to be held on Sunday 26 February 2006 as part of Council’s Commonwealth Games program.

Council’s Arts and Leisure Coordinator, Jenny Churchill, encouraged local sporting and leisure clubs to register their interest in participating.

"The ‘come and try’ day aims to create mass sports and leisure activity participation in communities across the Shire.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for local clubs to increase their membership base and for community members to participate in activities they might not otherwise have tried," explained Ms Churchill.

Clubs must register their interest by 30 December 2005 by filling out a form available at any Council Customer Service or YMCA Leisure Centre or on Council’s website www.basscoast.vic.gov.au.

For further information visit the Council website or contact Andrew McKinnon or Rebecca Wilson at Council’s YMCA Leisure Centres on (03) 5952 2811.
