Are You Fed Up With Gippsland's Petrol Prices?Help us to bring skyrocketing petrol prices back to Earth By Emma Kae - 21st May 2002 - Back to News CRAPP - Citzens Revolt Against Petrol Prices
The difference in petrol prices between specific towns is unfair and must be stopped. It is unjust that some Gippsland residents be forced to unnecessarily pay more for petrol than the citizens of other regions. It was reported in the Latrobe Valley Express that a mere 12 kilometres (between Warragul and Yarragon) can mean a 13c rise in prices, and that the huge price differences across Gippsland have resulted in a monthly loss of $250,000 for Latrobe Valley residents alone. The time has come to make stand. Join Citizens Revolt Against Petrol Prices (CRAPP) and help put a stop to outrageous prices.
CRAPP have already set to work, as last Saturday morning’s blockade of Newborough’s BP petrol station saw some 150 people protesting against the unwarranted price of petrol in the region, indicating that Gippslanders will no longer take this matter lying down. CRAPP are determined to follow through on this issue, targeting other petrol stations throughout the region, boycotting different stations, and approaching Government entities to put a stop to high-rise prices.
FuelWatch - A Gippsland Portal Project
The Gippsland Portal is also playing its part, with the Gippsland fuel watch page. Visit the Gippsland Portal for daily updates on Gippsland's petrol prices. We need your help to maintain the prices. If everyone pitches in and keeps an eye on the prices of their nearest station, it will enable us to compile a database of the most up-to-date prices for each town and region, so that you can get the cheapest petrol (look for the bowser icon) in your region. The service is free and worthwhile for everyone, so get involved!
To update fuel prices:
