Gallery offers opportunity to learn bookbinding

Have you ever wanted to take a class in bookbinding? Latrobe Regional Gallery will be holding a day long course in creative book binding this Sunday 7 August.

By Latrobe City Council - 2nd August 2005 - Back to News

Latrobe Regional Gallery director, Louise Tegart, said participants can gain new skills and inspiration through the Latrobe Regional Gallery’s adult workshops held on the first Sunday of every month.

"Work alongside artists and professionals who specialise in their field, and learn how these artists apply and manipulate media to communicate ideas and create artworks," Ms Tegart said.

"In this Sunday’s creative bookbinding workshop, Sharon Anderson will teach participants how to make a concertina book and a circle fold book.

"Sharon Anderson has been working professionally from her studio in Newborough for the last eight years. A Monash University graduate, Sharon specialises in printmaking but also works in creative bookbinding and pastel drawing," Ms Tegart said.

"This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill or improve techniques."

The course on the 7 August runs from 11am-4pm and costs $44 including most materials and equipment, but participants are welcome to bring some special paper to cover the books.

Places are limited and bookings are essential on 5128 5700.
