Award Winning Exhibition Coming to the ValleyDa Vinci Machines Exhibition arrives in February 2021, to be hosted by a Morwell Art Gallery. By Portal Admin - 21st December 2020 - Back to News A Morwell art gallery is set to host the works of Leonardo da Vinci, one of the world’s greatest minds, when the award winning Da Vinci Machines Exhibition arrives in February 2021, thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today visited the Latrobe Regional Gallery in Morwell to announce funding to bring the iconic exhibition to the Latrobe Valley. The international touring exhibition is on loan from the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci in Florence, Italy.
The exhibition contains over 60 interactive machines inspired by original Da Vinci drawings of iconic inventions such as the bicycle, scuba suit, spring powered car and precursor to the modern helicopter. The exhibition also features a set of life size replicas of iconic Da Vinci paintings.
The Labor Government is supporting the Latrobe City Council with a grant of $33,000 from the Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community and Facility Fund, and a further $5,000 from the Department of Transport’s Transport Access Project to provide transport for local schools to visit the exhibition while it is in town.
A major redevelopment of the Latrobe Regional Gallery made possible by $770,000 in funding from the Andrews Labor Government in 2017 brought the gallery up to international standards - enabling it to host and attract world-class exhibitions.
