Liberal Nationals will back the Yallourn Yallourn North Football Netball ClubElected Liberal Nationals Government to ensure a $470,000 upgrade facilities at George Bates Reserve. By Portal Admin - 11th November 2018 - Back to News An elected Liberal Nationals Government will make sure the Yallourn Yallourn North Football Netball Club (YYNFNC) can properly cater for female players, providing $470,000 to upgrade facilities at George Bates Reserve.
The funding will modernise the grounds, bringing the facilities up to standard for game days and training sessions.
Female players currently have no change room or toilet facilities, no room for equipment storage or an appropriate space to warm-up, while the court playing surface is badly deteriorated.
With more and more women joining YYNFNC to play in teams across six grades in the MidGippsland Football Netball League, this investment will enable the club to continue to thrive and build its membership base.
Unlike Daniel Andrews, who handed $225 million of taxpayers’ money to the AFL to upgrade a stadium in Melbourne, the Liberal Nationals will put grassroots sports clubs first.
Community sport in Victoria will get a massive $195 million boost under a Liberal Nationals Government through the Grassroots Sports Revival Fund.
The record investment includes funding to fix old and crumbling facilities at sports clubs in country Victoria and more money to help local clubs better cater for growth in women’s and junior sport.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport Danny O’Brien
The Liberal Nationals are fighting hard to make sure our local clubs have the facilities they need so the community can keep fit and enjoy the pride of representing their town.
Being born and raised in the Latrobe Valley, I understand the importance and connection that sporting clubs like Yallourn Yallourn North Football Netball Club have to their country town.

This project is long overdue and I’m proud to have supported the club with its efforts to secure these funds since I first toured the facilities five months ago and saw how desperately it was needed.
The Latrobe Valley is a proud sporting region and I’m thrilled to be able help the Yallourn Yallourn North netballers and community turn this into a reality.
Comments attributable to Liberal candidate for Morwell Dale Harriman
Community Sporting facilities such as those at Yallourn Yallourn North Football Netball Club are in dire need of modernisation.
Through our funding pledge, the netballers will finally have the facility they deserve.
