Commonwealth Games Appreciation

Member for Western Port Province, Geoff Hilton, made a special presentation to Bass Coast Shire Council last night acknowledging their contribution to Victoria’s celebration of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Mr Hilton presented framed photographs on behalf of Justin Madden, the Minister for Sport and Recreation, acknowledging the Council and their staff’s significant contribution.

Mr Hilton made special mention of the work of Bass Coast’s Arts and Leisure Coordinator, Jenny Churchill for her work on the events organised around the Games, particularly the Bass Coast Baton Relay. Mr Hilton said he was very impressed by the community spirit and commitment inspired by the Games.

The framed gift included photos of the Queen’s Baton Relay on the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and the Tanzanian Team, Bass Coast’s adopted nation for the Games.
