Airport manager, Neil Cooper, said flying begins at 12 noon, and the official display runs from 1pm to 3pm.

"The program includes parachute jumpers and flying demonstrations by the Winjeel, Harvard, Yak 9, Vampire Jet, P51 Mustang, Extra 300 and the GA8 Airvan. To highlight the diversity of craft at the show, there will also be performances from the Robinson R22 helicopter, fire bomber and the Helimed air ambulance.

"For real heart-thumping excitement, there will be aerobatic displays by the Pitts (Australian Champion), by Glider pilots and the renowned RAAF Roulettes," Mr Cooper said.

"Several of the aircraft and their pilots have performed at Australia’s famous Avalon International Airshow and their skill and prowess in the air is nothing short of breathtaking," Mr Cooper added.

"This will be the first airshow held at Latrobe Regional Airport since 1994 and promises to be spectacular, both on the ground and in the air, and is a family event not to be missed. So, bring a rug and a chair, find a spot and enjoy these magnificent flying machines," Mr Cooper concluded.

The open day and airshow will be held at Latrobe Regional Airport, Airfield Road, Morwell. Gates open at 10am. Entry for the airshow on Sunday 17 May is $10 per person or $25 for the whole family. Flying is programmed to start at 12 noon with the airshow to run from 1pm until 3pm. This is an alcohol free event.

The Fly In and Airshow will be preceded on Saturday 16 May by a free open day from 10am where a variety of aircraft will be on show, ranging from the tiny Pitts Specials and Corby Starlet ‘home-builts’, to the graceful vintage DC3 which has been fully restored by Latrobe Flying Museum; a Tiger Moth, Chipmunks, and former military aircraft including a Russian YAK 9, and many others.
