By news@gippsland - 24th April 2021 - Back to News Students in Traralgon will soon have access to the first-rate classrooms and facilities they deserve, with the next step of upgrades to Traralgon College’s Senior Campus. Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced McColl Smith Pty Ltd had been appointed to build Traralgon College’s $6 million upgrade, which will help it deliver a 21st century education.
Funding for School Upgrades will make sure our students will have accessible and better facilities they deserve
The upgrade will see upgrade works being undertaken at the College’s Grey St Senior Campus. These works will include a new Administration Building, Library, Years 9 and 10 building and a Science Building.
More jobs and education for community
In the past five years, the Andrews Government has invested more than $9 billion in more than 1,600 school upgrades – creating more than 10,000 construction jobs – and is now ahead of schedule its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 48 new schools opening between 2019 and 2022. The Andrews Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and get a quality education.
Upgrade to match good quality
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said, "These upgrades are part of our record investment in new and upgraded schools across Gippsland, and it’s been a pleasure to work with and for the students, staff, teachers and Principal at the College in the planning and consultation stages of this project. Upgrading Traralgon College will give students access to bright, modern and accessible classrooms and facilities that match the quality of teaching and learning that the school already delivers."
