Free Computer Training at GippsTAFE

GippsTAFE is offering free computer training to persons aged 45 and over in the Warragul, Leongatha and Latrobe Valley areas.

GippsTAFE is offering free computer training to persons aged 45 and over in the Warragul, Leongatha and Latrobe Valley areas.

The training is provided through the BITES (Basic IT Enabling Skills) for Older Workers Program, which is an initiative of the Commonwealth Government. Participants must be in receipt of an income support payment.

The program aims to provide Information Technology training to workers over 45 who are in the labour force, unemployed, or seeking paid work, and have limited computer skills.

The BITES program will recruit eligible applicants for the program and will deliver three designated competencies from the Certificate I in Information Technology. The program also offers 10 hours additional computer training.

The topics covered in the training program include operating a personal computer, learning how to word process, and send and retrieve information over the Internet and email.

There are 60 places available at the Warragul, Yallourn and Leongatha Campuses.
