Prograze – The Pathway To Profitable and Sustainable Grazing

This course is designed for beef and lamb producers who wish to maximise their income by developing a better understanding of grazing management.

By Department of Primary Industries - 23rd April 2003 - Back to News

This course is designed for beef and lamb producers who wish to maximise their income by developing a better understanding of grazing management. This is achieved through better pasture utilisation and matching these skills with livestock feed requirements.

The program is delivered during 8 half-day meetings, conducted 3 to 4 weeks apart and uses a hands-on approach, with sessions conducted on-farm. Discussion with other producers and practical sessions are combined so participants have a full learning experience.

Topics covered over the eight sessions include:

  • The principles of pasture and livestock interaction
  • Pasture production
  • Grazing management
  • Feed budgeting

These meetings are conducted by leading industry experts.

A Prograze course is planned to commence at Bairnsdale in May. If you would like more information about "Prograze," contact Peter Stapleton at DPI Calvert Street, Bairnsdale, on 5152 0600.
