Planning For Business Change

Local businesses recently participated in the Planning for Business Change - Grow Your Business Group program, hosted by Latrobe City Council and funded by the Victorian State Government

By Latrobe City - 19th July 2013 - Back to News

Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Sandy Kam, said that five local businesses participated in the program aimed at providing support to small business.

"These businesses operate in, or have a strong connection to, the manufacturing or brown coal sectors. The program helped participants identify immediate business risks and opportunities, and more importantly plan to address or capitalise on them.

"Understanding the market, the costs, implementing good business practices and having a business plan are essential for achieving business success. If we look at great businesses, they all have a plan to guide them.

Robert Lewis from Hydraulic & Pneumatic, took part in the program. "The program was reassuring to have a third party affirmation on our business planning and I found that creating an action plan was a useful exercise and will assist with our company growth," Mr Lewis said.

Cr Kam said that Latrobe City Council was committed to supporting local businesses.

"We see this program as just one way in which we can continue to provide that support," Cr Kam concluded.

The program involved interactive workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions, providing business coaching and action plan development.

Latrobe City’s Business Development Team works toward assisting economic growth and sustainability within the region. To find out more about the services available to businesses or register interest for upcoming sponsored programs please contact John Bettson on 5128 5659.
