Monash Gippsland will welcome new students to the campus in Academic Orientation week, beginning on February 19. Students will participate in a wide variety of activities designed to introduce them to all aspects of university life. Classes begin February 26.
The Latrobe City Welcome Dinner and Flag Raising ceremony will be held on February 21 at Monash University Gippsland. The ceremony welcomes new International students to the region and will be attended by many members of the community, as well as Monash staff. There will be student representatives from up to 20 countries at the Dinner.
• Making the Grade
Christine Prendergast has recently taken up the full time position of Careers Consultant at the Gippsland Campus. Her role involves assisting students with career planning and thinking about the future, as well as working with local industry as necessary. This is the first time the position has been full time. She is originally from Maffra and currently lives in Callignee. She has extensive experience in Careers Consulting and management, having worked with EPR International, Gippsland Central Institute of TAFE and Gippsland Industry, Skills and Employment Council.
Business and Economics student Lauren Densley placed third in the Victorian 360 Sprintcar Titles held in Warrnambool on Saturday. Lauren is from Flynn and is the only female Sprintcar racer in Victoria. This is Lauren’s first season with the 360 Sprintcars and in the future hopes to go to America to pursue her motorsport career.
