2012 Employment And Industry Survey To Be Distributed The 2012 employment and industry survey is now being distributed to over 2700 businesses throughout Latrobe City. By Latrobe City - 8th February 2012 - Back to News Completed every two years, the survey will provide a snapshot of local business confidence, employment growth and future skills requirements.
Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Ed Vermeulen said that the survey was a useful tool for identifying areas of focus for State Government support.
"Latrobe City Council has been conducting the survey since 2008 and this year we are undertaking the survey with Wellington Shire Council and Baw Baw Shire Council along with Skills Victoria in order to develop a comprehensive economic snapshot of the entire Latrobe Valley.
"Once the results are collated, Council will be better placed to identify areas of priority for local industry. This allows more suitable training programs to be made available to businesses and will be useful in informing Council to make appropriate policy decisions for a low carbon future," Cr Vermeulen said.
"The data gathered can also be used for input into the Latrobe Valley Industry and Employment Roadmap, a Victorian Government initiative, to deliver a clear and achievable plan for new industry and investment, and assist in securing long-term employment for the Latrobe Valley.
"It is vital to the future of our region to gather this information. This economic snapshot will inform policy makers at all levels of government as to how our local economy is tracking ahead of the low carbon transition," Cr Vermeulen concluded.
A copy of the survey is also available on the Latrobe City Council website for businesses to print, complete, and return to Council.
Businesses will be able to use this information to identify growth areas and planned investment in the different industry sectors.
A report summarising the findings of the survey will be posted on the Latrobe City Council website by mid-2012.
