Basketball Planning For The Future

The Wonthaggi Basketball Association has been working with Basketball Victoria on their three year strategic plan.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 20th July 2009 - Back to News

The plan identifies ways to increase junior development, minimise costs and create clearer role descriptions for committee members.

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Recreation and Leisure Planner, Ella Angarane, said Basketball Victoria had provided significant support to the club.

"Last month Basketball Victoria’s CEO, Wayne Bird, visited the association to discuss the plan and announce a $2,000 grant for the association," said Ms Angarane.

"The grant is to help the club support volunteer office bearers, provide training for umpires and coaches and assist with junior development."

Association President, Tim Robbins, said completing the strategic plan has been a real priority for this committee.

"We have over 350 players in the association and creating the strategic plan to help guide the development of basketball in Wonthaggi is extremely important, particularly for our junior players, umpires and coaches," said Mr Robbins.

"The plan helps us by identifying ways to improve how the association is run and ways we can minimise costs to participants."

If you are interested in basketball and would like to play or to be involved as a volunteer, you can contact committee member Fiona Cengia on 5672 2268.
