Get Involved In Wonthaggi’s FutureGet involved in developing a future vision for Apex Park on Murray Street. By Portal Admin - 14th July 2019 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council wants the community to get involved in the next stages of the Wonthaggi Activity Centre Plan.
As part of the public consultation process for the Plan, a workshop will be held with the community, to help develop a future vision for Apex Park on Murray Street.
The workshop will be held on Thursday, 1 August from 5.30pm at the old Wonthaggi Post Office. To get involved, visit www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/wacp.
On top of the workshop, there will be several opportunities to provide feedback on the Plan, including in person and online, between Monday, 8 July and Friday, 2 August.
Pop-up sessions will be held on Saturday, 13 July from 12.00pm to 3.00pm at the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre, and from Monday 22 July to Wednesday, 24 July at the Wonthaggi Library, from 10.00am to 1.00pm each day.
An online survey is also available throughout the consultation period, where the community can provide feedback via questions and an interactive town map.
The Plan aims to enhance the quality and character of the Wonthaggi Town Centre over the next 20 years, while reinforcing the town’s status as a Regional Centre. It establishes a vision for Wonthaggi and identifies how it can be achieved.
Throughout the development of the Plan, there has been a strong focus on community consultation, which has helped Council to understand the needs and wants of the broader public.
Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari, said that the Plan defines the key characteristics of the town and identifies how these can be improved over time.
"The Plan puts forward a number of objectives, which will help us create a vibrant town centre for Wonthaggi," Cr Tessari said.
"We would love to hear from the community on the Plan, to see if we have missed anything."
To view the Plan and provide feedback, visit www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/wacp or contact Council’s Strategic Planning Team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211, or email strategic.planningadmin@basscoast.vic.gov.au.
