Cowes Civic Centre Master Plan Exhibition

The Cowes Cultural Precinct masterplan will be on exhibition on Saturday 7 March in the corridor of the Cowes Heritage Centre. It will then move to the Cowes Customer Service Centre until Monday 16 March.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 25th February 2009 - Back to News

Bass Coast Shire Council Social Planner, Jeanette Draper and consultant Larry Parsons will be available on Saturday 7 March from 9am to 1pm to explain the plans, answer questions and record community feedback.

"The Phillip Island community has been very patient waiting for work to begin on the redevelopment of the precinct," said Ms Draper.

"Council has tried to present scenarios which meet the needs of the community, are achievable and sustainable."

The purpose of the masterplan is to create infrastructure that:

  • provides a benchmark for innovation using sustainable, energy efficient architectural design and materials
  • is modern and accessible
  • maximises the benefits to the current and future community
  • delivers Council services efficiently and effectively

"We encourage everyone to have a look at the masterplan and forward any comments or questions to Council," said Ms Draper.

"This is the first stage in the re-development of this site and it will provide the basis for design work to begin. Community input from ratepayers, residents and visitors is really important.

"This is a community facility so we want members of the community to come along and have their say," said Ms Draper.

Written submissions on the masterplan will be accepted until Monday 16 March 2009. Submissions should be sent to Jeanette Draper, Social Planner, Bass Coast Shire Council, PO Box 118, Wonthaggi, 3995 and may be made available to the public.
