Morwell Rose Garden TheftTheft of Roses at Morwell Rose Garden. By Portal Admin - 28th July 2019 - Back to News Latrobe City Council regrets to inform the community that multiple cases of theft of roses from the International Morwell Rose Garden have occurred over the last two weeks.
Latrobe City Council is disappointed with this senseless destruction to the Morwell Rose Garden as the garden is internationally recognised and a highly regarded community asset within our municipality. The Friends of the Rose Garden have never experienced senseless vandalism on this scale before and it is deeply disappointing and disturbing that the community’s work has been treated this way.
Some of these roses were newly planted but some were also well established and possibly cannot be replaced. Latrobe City Council and The Friends of the Rose Garden will work together to repair the damage done to the Morwell Rose Garden.
If any community member witnessed any suspicious behaviour in this area recently we ask them to please report it to the police. Destruction of Council property is costly to the ratepayer, but not only that, it is damaging to our community assets and pride.
