$250,000 for Morwells Sage TechnologyMorwell’s Sage Technology will develop industry leading mobility and user interface technology, creating five new jobs with the help of $250,000 in Coalition Government funding announced today by Member for Morwell Russell Northe.
By www.russellnorthe.com.au - 23rd December 2012 - Back to News Mr Northe said the technology would be applied to a world-leading electronic permit to work system.
Sage Technology is a wholly-owned Australian company employing 24 highly-skilled IT professionals to provide support for the electronic permit to work systems into large industrial plants such as power stations and refineries," Mr Northe said.
"Sage will design and build a range of small applications that interact with SageSURPASS to facilitate on-the-job information and authorisation so work can be completed as efficiently as possible without the need to return to base.
"Some of the applications will include risk assessments, approving and viewing permits, issuing and surrendering permits, and managing permit controls such as isolation of plant.
"Developing the applications for mobile devices will significantly contribute to workplace efficiency.
"Demand for the applications is anticipated to make a significant contribution to the growth of SageSURPASS and Sage Technology."
Mr Northe said the project will enable Sage Technology to meet the demands of its growing global and resources sector client base, who were all embracing mobile technology that promoted operational efficiency.
"The project will also improve Sage’s productivity and create market advantage for the company and its products over competitors from outside of the region," Mr Northe said.
"Critically, the project will also create five new jobs and secure Sage’s existing workforce, ensuring the company remains competitive in the global market."
Mr Northe said funding towards the $500,000 SAGE Technology Mobilisation and User Interface Unification Project would be provided through the Latrobe Valley Industry and Infrastructure Fund, part of the $1 billion Regional Growth Fund.
"The Latrobe Valley Industry and Infrastructure Fund is designed to assist the Latrobe Valley manage the challenge of structural adjustment and reposition its economy for sustainable long-term growth," Mr Northe said.
"The LVIIF provides funding of $15 million over three years to facilitate new employment opportunities and leverage new private sector investment in the region."
Managing Director of Sage Technology Lynda Bertoli thanked the Victorian Government for their continued support.
"Sage Technology has invested significantly in the development of SageSURPASS to be a highly regarded and highly competitive product in the global market place," Ms Bertoli said.
"This grant will enable us to take SageSURPASS into the mobility space to optimise the export market and further secure our position of pre-eminence within Australia."
The SAGE Technology Mobilisation and User Interface Unification Project is expected to be completed in September 2013.
