By news@gippsland - 14th December 2023 - Back to News The Nationals Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, has toured the St Vincent De Paul Society's Assistance Centre in Traralgon ahead of Christmas to learn about the impact of food insecurity and the cost-of-living crisis during the festive season. Mr Cameron was joined by Opposition Leader, John Pesutto, for a day of engagements and meetings across the Latrobe Valley to discuss the issues impacting residents and businesses.

Add in rising interest rates, the cost of keeping cars on the road and kids in school, and it's clear the Labor government isn't doing enough to provide real relief for everyday Victorians." "Our wonderful community organisations and volunteers, like those at Vinnies, are working overtime to fill that void and provide food relief as more and more Victorians struggle to make ends meet. Despite this, there has been no shortage of donations for Vinnies' Christmas Appeal, which goes to show generosity of spirit is still alive and well despite these trying times." "I look forward to joining the delivery crew in dropping off the hampers next week and hope the hampers lovingly prepared by the folks at Vinnies help families enjoy the Christmas period," Mr Cameron concluded.
