Buchan NewsShowcasing Local Crafts
Buchan Foothills District Market By Buchan Resource Centre (Karen King) - 11th October 2004 - Back to News Showcasing Local Crafts
The women of Buchan and district are involved in an exciting new project, the establishment and development of an outlet for the exhibition and sale of locally produced art and craft.
Working within the recently established Women who Mean Business project, which aims to give Gippsland women the skills and some funds to start and continue projects in their area, the Buchan group met at Neighbourhood House on Saturday for the third in a series of skills development workshops.
Having already completed workshops in (EBecoming Media Savvy, with Deb Bye (former manager of ABC Gippsland and now station manager at life FM), and a weekend of skills development with Jill Gael, the group focused on developing a business plan with facilitator, Belinda Brennan.
Great progress was made towards giving some solid structure to the dreams and hopes of the group.
During the day the women visited the proposed venue, the lovely old post office building, and were shown around inside by owner and former Buchan post mistress, Jess Coates.
The group will meet again on Saturday, November 6 at the Neighbourhood House at 10am and welcomes new faces.
