Residents in Jacobs Creek Road and Old Coach road have been advised to activate their bushfire plans and patrol their homes for ember attack.

State firefighters led by DSE and supported by CFA are attacking the fire from the ground and air, working with almost 400 personnel, 51 tankers, nine slip-on units, 13 dozers and six aircraft. The fire is currently 3500 hectares in size.

More community meetings are being planned for tomorrow to inform residents about the fire situation and help them decide whether to stay and defend their properties or to make the decision to leave in plenty of time:

Wallhalla at 9.30am

Cowwarr at 11.30am

Toongabbie at 12.30pm

Glengarry at 1.30pm

Willow Grove at 3.00pm

More detailed information about these meetings will be broadcast in the morning.

The fire at Black Range, 30 kilometres north of Heyfield is proving difficult to get a line around, but is also being water-bombed by aircraft, which is helping to halt the spread of the fire.

Closer to Heyfield, on Weir Road a number of small fires has been quickly contained by DSE and CFA crews. The cause of these fires is under investigation.
