Family-friendly initiative
Ms McCabe said, "This program is a fun way to shine a spotlight on businesses throughout our Shire that go above and beyond to make their spaces welcoming for families with young children. It features loads of fun activities and might just encourage people to visit a business they've never explored before!"
More businesses and events are still to be added. For the most up to date information please visit Family Friendly Baw Baw Project page. Any businesses interested in registering an event or promotion are asked to contact council's Family Friendly Project Officer by emailing Samantha.johns@bawbawshire.vic.gov.au or calling 1300 229 229 by November 28.
Christmas family support
The Family Friendly Christmas campaign is part of council's wider Family Friendly Baw Baw initiative which encourages local businesses to provide facilities, such as a parent room for feeding or a toilet, available to use without obligation to make a purchase. Participating businesses are supplied with eye-catching stickers that make it easy for families to identify family friendly facilities when they need them.
"Family Friendly Baw Baw is an initiative we are very proud of. It creates a feeling of safety and a sense of community for families who live in our Shire. In the lead up to Christmas, I encourage all residents to gather your little ones and attend one or many of the fun activities our local family friendly businesses are hosting throughout December," says Mayor McCabe. If your business would like to take part or to join, you can use the Family Friendly Business registration form online.
