Official Opening of Shared Pavilion and Netball Courts at Morwell Recreation ReserveMorwell Recreation Reserve Precinct Master Plan officially opens By Portal Admin - 2nd February 2019 - Back to News The first steps in the delivery of the Morwell Recreation Reserve Precinct Master Plan (2014) have been officially opened by the Hon Darren Chester MP and Latrobe City Mayor Cr Graeme Middlemiss. The new netball courts, shared sports pavilion, car parking and landscaping projects have recently been completed and are ready to be utilised by the Morwell Football Netball Club and Morwell Cricket Club who will be the main uses of the facilities.
These facilities will enable the Morwell Football Netball Club and Morwell Cricket Club to strengthen participation numbers especially with female participation in cricket. The shared pavilion features multi-purpose change rooms and space which will be utilised by both clubs and the community.
Due to the new facilities the Morwell Recreation Reserve now holds the capacity to host night netball games and deliver larger sporting events at the ground. The new pavilion can be used in many different ways and will greatly improve participation to members of the local community and deliver health and social benefits.
Funding for the new netball courts, shared sports pavilion, car parking and landscaping was provide by the Federal Government ($1.1 million for the construction of the New Netball Courts and $1.6 million for the construction of the New Share Cricket/Netball Pavilion).
