Family history sessions to be held at LibrariesBy Latrobe City Council - 10th May 2005 - Back to News Latrobe City Library Coordinator, Claire Wood, said that the sessions would focus on basic methods of researching family history and provide an overview of the family history resources that are available locally and via the internet.
"Family history research is so popular these days that it is possible to do a lot of spade work about ancestors, even when those ancestors lived on the other side of the world," Ms Wood said.
"Our community is fortunate to have several organisations that can provide excellent services for family people who are tracing their family tree. Knowing what and who is available in the local area will save valuable research time, and these sessions will give people a step-by-step guide on how to set about their research," Ms Wood explained.
"With these sessions we hope to help people on their way to a fascinating journey back into the roots of their family," Ms Wood concluded.
The ‘Beginning Family History’ sessions will run at 4pm on Sunday 22 May at Traralgon Library; Wednesday 25 May at Moe Library; and Thursday 26 May at Morwell Library.
To register for a session contact the Traralgon Library, telephone 5176 3630; the Morwell Library, telephone 5128 5436; or the Moe Library, telephone 5135 8350.
