Gippsland › Latest news › Gippsland Portal FeatureLooking Toward 2003![]() The Gippsland Portal makes plans to be bigger and better in 2003 Transport, maps, sport, kids, student accommodation, health, beauty and lifestyle - coming soon to the Gippsland Portal 2003 will see the Gippsland Portal expand to include several new sections, tools and resources. Currently on the drawing board are no less than six innovative chapters to cater for a larger audience with varied interests and needs. The new sections include Public Transport, Maps, Sport, Kids, Student Accommodation and Health / Beauty / Lifestyle. Public Transport Wondering how to get from A to B? With this new application, Gippslanders simply enter their origin and desired destination and be presented with a timetable. Each table clearly explains when transport is available, departure times and the approximate length of each trip. Maps Gippsland is a rural region with the best of both worlds, from buzzing central business centres to farmland and dirt roads. When visiting somewhere new, it is easy to miss a turnoff and find yourself lost in the middle of nowhere. With the Gippsland Maps section up and running, it will be as simple as selecting the map of the area that you are travelling through and printing it off, to ensure that you are never mislaid again! Sport Sport plays a vital role in the Gippsland community, with literally hundreds of clubs enjoying a regular game. The sporting chapter of the Gippsland Portal will serve as a centralised location on the Internet where local sporting enthusiasts can find news, records and results for their favourite teams. Kids Gippsland’s leaders of tomorrow have not been forgotten in a website that has been largely useful for adult audiences. Next year we are developing a kid-friendly section on the portal with fun activities, short stories, colouring competitions and great prizes for the best entries from up-and-coming artists, authors and activists! Student Accommodation With a strong emphasis on education and skills training, Gippsland has attracted students from near and far for many years now. Sometimes it is hard for interstate and international students with limited contact in the area to find available accommodation while they complete their studies. The Student Accommodation section will help to link up new students with appropriate housing through local real estate agents. Health, Beauty and Lifestyle Everybody wants to look good and feel fantastic. This chapter of the Gippsland Portal will explore health and nutrition, fashion and beauty and food and lifestyle. It will provide visitors with news about new products, services and activities taking place in the region, and open discussion between the sceptical and the converted. 2003 is sure to be jam packed with even more for you. Be sure to come back to the website regularly for updates and new services. Keep up to date with our free weekly online newspaper! Subscribe here. In the meantime, the Gippsland Portal team would like to wish you the very best for the holiday season and new year. Is there anything else that you would you like to see on the website? Let us know!
