Information Centre Volunteers FarewelledMore than 25 staff and volunteers from the Wonthaggi, Inverloch and Phillip Island visitor information centres recently attended a farewell party for two long serving volunteers. By Carol McCormack - 25th November 2002 - Back to News More than 25 staff and volunteers from the Wonthaggi, Inverloch and Phillip Island visitor information centres recently attended a farewell party for two long serving volunteers.
For the past nine years, John & Margaret Williams have volunteered on a weekly basis at the Wonthaggi Information Centre.
"Their personal travelling experiences and friendly natures have made them two of the most informed and entertaining volunteers at the centres and we will miss them," said Lori Worthy, Visitor Services Coordinator with Bass Coast Shire Council.
Business and pleasure were combined at the farewell party, which was held at the Ibis Inn B&B at Cape Paterson. The party was held at the local accommodation provider so that Information Centre staff and volunteers could see what the B&B was like.
"We wish John & Margaret all the best for the future and their move to Drouin," said Lori.
If you are interested in volunteering at one of Council’s visitor information centres, contact Lori Worthy on 5671 2444 or Peter Francis on 5956 7447.
"Volunteering at the centres is a great way to meet people and learn about the local area," said Lori. Picture sent via email: Information centre volunteers and staff recently farewelled John and Margaret Williams.
