Members of the community are invited to comment on the draft master plan for the Inverloch Foreshore area from St Kilda Street to Ayr Creek. The plan outlines how the area should be managed as well as future improvements.

"This area of the Inverloch Foreshore is popular with both residents and visitors," said Derek Hibbert, Council’s Environmental/Coastal Officer. "When developing the draft plan we have tried to provide for high visitor use while conserving and enhancing the area’s unique coastal vegetation."

The draft plan also includes a landscape plan that identifies the proposed location of features such as beach access tracks, car parks, picnic and bbq areas, revegetation zones and a shared pathway.

Derek said that the plan would facilitate the work of many valued volunteers who currently contribute to foreshore management activities, while possibly attracting more volunteers to new projects. Having a master plan for the area also gives these community groups and Council greater opportunities for attracting grants for improvement and conservation works.

The draft plan is on display at the Inverloch and Wonthaggi Customer Service Centres. Written comments and submissions from the public will be accepted until Friday 29 November.

"I invite anyone who would like to meet and discuss the draft plan to give me a call and make an appointment to meet at the Inverloch Customer Service Centre on the 1, 8, 15 or 22 November," said Derek. "People are also welcome to give me a call on (03) 5671 2211 to discuss the plan.

Derek will also be holding a public information evening about the plan from 6-9pm on Friday 1 November at the Inverloch Community Centre, A’Beckett Street, Inverloch.
