One of Australia’s most successful and enduring morning melodies companies, the Gaslight Company, will present two very special performances of their popular show ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ at the Latrobe Regional Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon, on Thursday 13 December at 11am and 2pm.
Latrobe City’s Performing Arts Director, Paul Holton, said the five-member group will perform all the great songs of Christmas with many wonderful traditional carols as well as some more recent Christmas favourites, to celebrate the true spirit Of Christmas. "The show will be spiced with Gaslight’s own brand of comedy, which has always been a big part of their appeal," Mr Holton said.
"The Gaslight Company has been delighting audiences around the country for the last fifteen years. Following a sell-out performance at Traralgon’s Little Theatre last December, it is with much pleasure that we welcome them back to Latrobe," Mr Holton said.
"Reviews from all over the country have described the performance as a slickly choreographed, gorgeously costumed, and well paced never a dull moment show."
The Gaslight Company has toured with some of Australia’s finest talents as their special guests, such as Marina Prior, Simon Gallaher, Karen Knowles, Denise Drysdale, Donald Cant and Frank Holden.
Appearing at the Traralgon shows will be mezzo –soprano Michelle Fitzmaurice, an award winning singer/actress and graduate from the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts; tenor Peter Smitheram who has a long history appearing in professional musicals; and soprano Cheryl Darvidis who has sung with the Victoria State Opera. David Cameron will be the Musical Director and well known face Chris McKenna will compere the show.
Tickets, priced at $11, are available from Select Music Systems in Franklin Street Traralgon, telehone 5174 2849. Complimentary light refreshments will be available in the foyer from 12.30pm to 2pm served between the two shows.
