By Bass Coast Shire Council - 10th September 2001 - Back to News Tell us your opinion See what others have said The first of four Cultural Tourism Forums was held at the Inverloch Community Centre on 3 September. The Forum was a success, with almost 40 people attending to explore ideas for arts and cultural events across both Shires.
A joint initiative between Bass Coast and South Gippsland Shire Councils, the Forums aim to boost employment and economical development within the local arts and tourism industries.
"We were especially pleased by the great representation from the Bass Coast and South Gippsland arts communities," said Jenny Churchill, Arts and Leisure Co-ordinator with the Bass Coast Shire Council. "It was fantastic to see people with the same interests coming together and sharing ideas."
Alex Prior from the Arts Management Advisory Group is chairing the forums. He will be helping the participants to collect information and develop plans for future initiatives.
The topic for the second forum will be ‘The Product’. Participants will be looking at the cultural products available in South Gippsland and Bass Coast, and how they can be improved.
Jenny explained that the first two forums have an arts and cultural focus. The third and fourth forums on the 1 and 15 October will have an arts, culture and tourism focus.
Residents of the South Gippsland and Bass Coast Shires are invited to attend the forums. The next will be held on 17 September at the Inverloch Community Centre from 6pm – 9pm. Admission is free, and a light meal will be provided.
