Local people have their say about Wonthaggi's Guide ParkContribution of ideas and draft plans of the redevelopment of Guide Park prove encouraging. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 30th November 2001 - Back to News Local people recently contributed their ideas to draft plans of the redevelopment of Guide Park in Wonthaggi.
Cr Miranda Sage, Mayor of Bass Coast Shire Council, said that community consultation indicated that there is keen interest in the park and its possible uses.
"Some of the issues that members of the community commented on were a planting program to ensure more shade in the park, an off-leash area for dogs, and linking the park to the Wonthaggi Wetlands and Bass Coast Rail Trail," said Cr Sage.
"Some of the ideas generated for discussion during the community consultation included imaginative play equipment for both children and adults, water fountains, a family cricket pitch, a sound shell, bike racks and wind breaks for barbecues," said Cr Sage.
"The Guide Park Community Steering Committee would like to thank all people who participated in the recent community consultation process for the proposed redevelopment," said Cr Sage. "There were many terrific ideas and suggestions, which will now be considered by the Committee as they work towards developing a long term plan for upgrading the Park facilities and access."
