Holiday Season OnlinePrepare your site for the holiday shenanigans By Emma Buckley - 7th September 2000 - Back to News Tell us your opinion See what others have said As the school holidays draw close on our calendars, children are going to have a lot of time on their hands. It is inevitable that this will result in a large group of kids using the Internet in search for entertainment.
This causes many warning bells in the mind of a parent, many of whom are not able to closely supervise their children's activities on-line. Unless your site contains any adult or uncensored material, make a disclaimer for the first page stating that it is kid-friendly.
Take a moment and go one step further by getting the stamp of approval from the “Safe For Kids Web Rating System”. This certification is free for download to all that are to be using it in an honourable way.
The time for a break is coming soon also for the university students. If you are running an e-commerce site suitable to this market it may be worthwhile to consider updating your customer service facilities.
As research has found, many students use the Internet in the early hours of the morning. During this time it is difficult to get a quick response to any inquiry they may have concerning the purchase of one of their products. Few people will wait for a reply, but will be more likely to drive to a
store rather than purchase online. Or perhaps that consumer may find that one of
your competitors makes purchasing easier.
In the best interest of keeping as many customers as possible, direct your consumer to Banter Solutions, a site that provides real-time, immediate answers. Helping to generate sales for your site, impending sales are not lost on account of a frustrated consumer waiting for a response.
