The school held a special assembly on Tuesday, October 21 to see Kkye Hall receive the prize from Westernport Water’s Managing Director, Mr Murray Jackson.

The poster competition, held to celebrate National Water Week, attracts many thousands of entries from primary schools.

Local water corporations around Victoria chose finalists to submit for judging in Melbourne by the Victorian Water Industry Association.

Mr Jackson said: "We had entries from half the schools in our supply area, a response probably unmatched by any water authority. After sifting through several hundred wonderful entries our staff, directors and a selection of community VIPs chose our four finalists.

"We are delighted that Kkye’s entry was selected for a state prize. It is an informed interpretation of the water cycle, and shows good understanding of the importance of water. It uses a variety of artistic approaches that highlight an original thinker. The prize is truly well-deserved."

Kkye received an MP3 player, a family pass to Museums Victoria, a low-flow showerhead, art materials and other goodies.

Westernport Water’s water quality officer Dean Chambers is organising visits to local schools, presenting fun sessions on water catchment and water conservation.

Any school wishing to book Dean’s presentation – designed for different ages – can contact him at dchambers@westernportwater.com.au or 5956 4189

Other finalists who received prizes from Westernport Water separately were Sarah Burns from Newhaven Primary School, VorgieMae Thompson from Newhaven College and Ayden Smith from San Remo Primary School.
