Billson Street Construction CompletedThe construction of Billson Street in Wonthaggi was completed on 27 May 2005. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 3rd June 2005 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council’s Senior Design Engineer, Murray Kent, says the project was undertaken to facilitate the growth of Wonthaggi.
"This project has provided a major link for traffic and pedestrians.
"As well as additional on-street parking in the Wonthaggi commercial area and access to new developments," said Mr Kent.
The construction of Billson Street was undertaken between Murray Street and Korumburra Road by Owens Earthmoving Pty Ltd of Wonthaggi.
The construction included underground drainage, kerb and channel, road pavement, footpaths, landscaping, and car, bus and disabled parking.
Footpath work in Murray Street is currently being undertaken as an addition to the project to complete footpath links.
The project forms part of Council’s 2004-2005 Capital Works Program.
