Liberal Nationals Establish Inquiry to Fix Farm Trespass Laws

Pressure to establish an inquiry into farm trespass laws.

By Portal Admin - 25th May 2019 - Back to News

Dear Editor,

Farmers had a win last week when the Victorian Parliament supported the Liberal Nationals’ motion to establish an inquiry into farm trespass laws.

Farmers and their families should have the confidence that Victoria’s laws will protect them from the destructive actions of law-breaking activists who want to shut down our agriculture sector.

But, when activists receive a fine of just $1 after breaking into a property and stealing livestock, it’s clear something must change.

The Liberal Nationals are standing up for the rights of our farmers, their families and farm businesses.

Ongoing pressure from regional communities across the state left the Andrews Government with no choice but to support this inquiry.

People in our regional communities will soon be invited to have a say by making public submissions and attending community consultations.

Make sure you take the opportunity to be heard by keeping up to date at www.parliament.vic.gov.au/eic-lc/inquiry/965
