Synthetic Bowling Green Assures Long-Term Future of the Moe Bowling ClubNew all-weather synthetic grass bowling green from the Victorian State Government.
By Portal Admin - 24th September 2018 - Back to News Members of the Moe Bowling Club now have a new all-weather synthetic grass bowling green, delivered thanks to a $230,000 contribution from members and $100,000 from the Victorian State Government. Latrobe City Council provided advice and oversight during the construction.
Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Darrell White, said the new synthetic green was an asset to both members and the wider community in Moe.
"The all-weather synthetic green is a boost to the Moe Bowling Club in terms of securing its longevity, but it also raises the profile of the Club on the regional bowling map. With this green and a second green now under construction planned to be ready for the start of the bowling season, there will be an increased capacity for events and competition, which of course has a flow-on effect for the Club’s financial coffers.
"This project has been a demonstration of the ways community, government and Council can work together. The collaboration between the Moe Bowling Club, Council and the construction company, supported by the State Government has delivered a result for the whole community.
"Underpinning any construction project in Latrobe City is community pride. We are delighted to see a quality facility delivered to a community-focused club and thank the Moe Bowling Club’s committee for its hard work and commitment to the project over a number of years," Cr White said.
Moe Bowling Club secretary, Noel Savige, said the synthetic green was a blessing to the club.
"This project affords us a significant win in terms of financial security for the club. Green-keeping costs upwards of $80,000 a year so the savings are immense. We are now able to play all winter with increases our revenue.
"But more than the financial aspect, the project means we have assured the long-term future of the club. We have already seen a rise in membership and we expect this to continue. Although the project was completed in May, this season will be the first full season on the new synthetic green and members are excited for the future," Mr Savige said.
