Victorians to fork out millions to fix Labor’s housing crisis

More and more of Victoria’s most vulnerable people are being forced onto public housing wait lists in the Andrews Labor Government’s public housing crisis.

The latest figures show over a thousand more of our state’s ‘priority’ applicants – including those fleeing family violence, suffering from mental health issues or at risk of homelessness – are waiting for a home.

Since December 2014, the priority wait list has grown by a massive 1220, with an increase of 511 in the last quarter alone. Nearly 34,000 Victorians in total are on the public housing wait list, an increase of 867 in the last quarter. More than 9700 of those people are in regional Victoria.

Daniel Andrews relegated this issue to the too hard basket for too long and now it is Victorian taxpayers who will pay the price to fix Labor’s mess.

The public housing waiting list reduced by more than 5000 under the previous Liberal Nationals government.
