Wonthaggi Road Works And Road ClosureRoad works have started on South Dudley Road between Station Street and West Area Road roundabout in Wonthaggi. By Bass Coast - 22nd June 2012 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council Infrastructure Director, Felicity Sist, said work to repair the poor road condition is expected to take three weeks, weather permitting.
"Due to the nature of the road works, we need to fully close the road between Station Street and West Area Road from Monday, 25 June until Saturday, 30 June between 9.00am and 3.00pm," said Ms Sist.
The construction works will mainly consist of replacing recently repaired asphalt patches with crushed rock, stabilising the road surface using lime and cement, road sealing and other associated works. This is the first for three stages to improve and upgrade South Dudley Road between the West Area Road roundabout to Bass Highway (White Road), subject to future funding.
"We recognise that this is a busy part of Wonthaggi, so we are asking motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area if possible.
"If you do have to drive in that area, please follow all traffic management signs and directions.
"Our contractors will assist with access to local property at all times, however the road closure will cause delays.
"To reduce the inconvenience, Council has made every effort to advise nearby local residents, emergency services, education and public transport services of the closure.
"We do regret the inconvenience; however these works will improve the safety for all road users," Ms Sist said.
Council has appointed Sure Constructions (Vic.) Pty Ltd to carry out road renewal works. The value of the contract works is $240,000. If you have any further queries contact the Infrastructure Projects Team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278)
