Learn About The Phillip Island Children’S Hub

Phillip Island residents are invited to a public meeting on Tuesday, 15 March to learn more about the Phillip Island Children’s Hub to be built in Cowes.

By Bass Coast - 10th March 2011 - Back to News

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Community Strengthening Manager, Antoinette Mitchell, said topics such as construction, traffic management and proposed services would be discussed at the meeting.

"We will have construction plans available for residents to look at and they will have the opportunity to ask questions of both Council and UnitingCare Gippsland who will be managing the Hub," said Ms Mitchell.

"Things have been busy on the site this week. Work has started on an access road into the site and building is due to start in May 2011, depending on weather.

"Some bus pick-up and drop-off points have been affected while drainage works are completed.

"The safety of the students is absolutely paramount which is why these changes have been made."

Ms Mitchell said vegetation removal had been kept to a minimum and any trees that had been removed would be cut into logs and given to the school to raffle at their fete.

The Hub will provide the Phillip Island community with integrated quality early years facilities and services and is anticipated to be finished in May 2012.

The Hub Public Meeting will be held in Meeting Room 1 at the Cowes Cultural Centre, Thompson Avenue, from 7.00pm to 8.30pm.

For more information on the Hub construction please contact Trevor Dando, Building Projects Coordinator on 1300 BCOAST (226 278).
