Listen to Mozart’s piano concerti brought to life The Melbourne Chamber Orchestra will perform two of Mozart’s most beautiful piano concert on August 9. Learn more about the event and be entertained... By news@gippsland - 27th July 2016 - Back to News Melbourne Chamber Orchestra will perform two of Mozart’s most beautiful piano concerti alongside the ebullient Symphony No 29 and the majestic Serenata Notturna at Latrobe Performing Arts Centre on Tuesday, 9 August.
Latrobe City’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said while Mozart was known as a composer, his reputation in his day also rested on his exceptional abilities as a pianist.
"Many of his 27 piano concerti were written for his own concerts, and they are testament to his technique and sensitivity at the keyboard."
Ms Roberts said she was thrilled Latrobe City audiences had the chance to listen to Piano Concerto No 11 in F major and Piano Concerto No 14 in E flat major, performed by Melbourne Chamber Orchestra.
"MCO is Victoria’s leading small orchestra, and one of Australia’s most active regional tourers of classical music. Every production promises an evening of inspiring and beautiful music making.
"The orchestra’s unique, approachable style is enjoyable for both newcomers and experienced concert- goers."
Filling the shoes of Mozart on piano is David Fung, whose international career is that of very few Australian musicians.
"Now based in New York, Fung is a laureate of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth competition in Brussels and the Arthur Rubinstein competition in Tel Aviv, and performs for celebrated orchestras and festivals across the globe."
Melbourne Chamber Orchestra will perform Mozart’s Piano at Latrobe Performing Arts Centre at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 9 August.
